HILLSBORO, Kan. -
After a tough non-conference tournament to open up the 2010 season the Tabor
College volleyball team returned home for its KCAC and season home opener Wednesday
night in Hillsboro, Kan. The Bluejays fell to Friends University in three games
18-25, 19-25, 20-25.
Tabor was led offensively by junior Tina Frick (Durham, Kan.) with a team-high
six kills, while fellow junior Cortney Janzen (Henderson, Neb.) and senior
Jordan Crosson (Minneapolis,
Kan.) each added 5 kills
apiece. Junior Mandi Phillips (Halstead, Kan.) and freshman Hollister Wolf (Moundridge, Kan.)
combined to dish out 18 assists in the match to help aid the Bluejays offense.
Defensively Tabor was led up front by Janzen, Frick, and
Crosson as they each contributed 4 blocks. Sophomore Paige Tabor (Maypearl,
Texas) led the Bluejays back row defense as she racked up 13 digs, while
juniors Gina Hullet (Abilene, Kan.) Jessica Dixon (Hutchinson,
Kan.) and
Wolf each chipped in with 7 digs.
Tabor (0-1 KCAC, 0-4 Overall) will travel to on the
University of St. Mary, Friday Sept. 10 at 4:30 p.m., before traveling to Springfield,
Mo. to participate in the Evangel University Tournament Saturday Sept. 11.
The Bluejays are scheduled to take on Missouri Valley
College at 9 a.m., Evangel University at 3 p.m. and Bacone College at 5 p.m.
