HILLSBORO, Kan. - The Tabor College women's soccer team kicked-off its season and the 2010 Tabor College athletic season Wednesday night in McPherson, Kan. as the Lady Jays earned a scoreless draw against Central Christian College.

"I was very impressed with the effort the women gave in the first contest of the season," said head women's soccer coach Grant Brubacher. "Our competitiveness and work ethic were excellent."

Tabor dominated much of the match and appeared to take an early lead as freshman Molly Clark (Fort Collins, Colo.) found the back of the net mid-way through the first half. However, the goal was disallowed as Clark was called for a questionable foul when she crashed into the goalkeeper on the goal.

Despite out-shooting Central Christian 16 to 7 and 7 to 3 with shots on goal, the Lady Jays still could not put away the Tigers as both team remained scoreless through 110 minutes of play.

The Lady Jays got a strong performance out of freshman goalkeeper Chelsea Brown (Sullivan, Mo.) as she recorded three saves in the first collegiate match of her career.

"We were unlucky to have a goal disallowed and had other chances go begging as well," said Brubacher. "As we continue to learn to play together and better execute the details offensively and defensively, we will be able to turn these types of efforts into victories."

Tabor (0-0-1 Overall) will return home to host the University of Sioux Falls Friday Sept. 3rd at 11 a.m. in its home opener at Joel H. Wiens Stadium.
