HILLSBORO, Kan. - Newman University transfer Jeff Hutton (Ladner, British Columbia) has signed a letter of intent to play baseball next season at Tabor College.

Hutton, a 6-2, 240-pound first baseman, earned First Team All-Heartland Conference and Third Team All-Canadian honors in 2009. He also earned First Team All-Walter Johnson league honors as a designated hitter in 2009, and as a first baseman in 2010.

Hutton will be looked at to bring valuable experience and make a major impact at the plate next season for the Bluejays.

"Jeff will be a huge threat in Blue Jay line-up" said Head Baseball Coach Mark Standiford. "He has proven ability by hitting over .400 while also recording double-digit home runs last seasons. Jeff will make a big impact for us 2011, and we are very excited to have him here at Tabor."

Jeff is the son of Cal Hutton and Lee Fraser.
