HILLSBORO, Kan. - University of Texas-Pan American Division I transfer Andrew Perez (Corpus Christi, Texas) has signed a letter of intent to play baseball next season for Tabor College.


Perez, a 5-9, 170-pound shortstop, appeared in 102 games during his two seasons of play for the Broncos. He will be looked at to make immediate impact at shortstop while bringing valuable experience to the Bluejays next season.


During his freshman season with the Broncos Perez started 55 of 56 games at shortstop where he batted .286 with 56 hits, 33 runs scored, six home runs, and 32 RBI's. He also recorded 163 assists on the season ranking him eighth in the single season record books.


During his sophomore season Perez continued to make an impact as he started all 47 games he appeared in while upping his batting average to .299 with 53 hits, 33 runs scored, two home runs, and 34 RBI's.


"Andrew has played at the Division I level that past two years," said Head Men's Baseball Coach Mark Standiford. "He brings instant leadership at shortstop, and people will be amazed at the plays he can make. He had a solid season at the plate last year and we are expecting that to improve this year. We are excited to have a player such as Andrew join our ball club her at Tabor."


Andrew is the son of Joe and Rosalinda Perez.
