HILLSBORO, Kan. - Orange Coast College transfer Cordell James Toa Simmons (Orange, Calif.) has signed a letter of intent to play football next season at Tabor College.

Simmons, a 6-4, 245-pound tight end, was a two-year starter and team captain for the Pirates where he was named a California Junior College All-Star in 2009.

He also served as a two-year starter at El Modena High School where he was an Orange County High School All-Star nominee while leading the Vanguards to the Kiwanis Beach Bowl title in 2007. He will be looked at to help strengthen the Bluejays tight end position next season.

Simmons has also excelled in the classroom as well, as a Scholar Athlete and a member of the National Honor Society throughout his high school career.

"Cordell makes us better in many areas, especially athleticism" said Head Football Coach Mike Gardner. "He will be a great asset to us and will be a welcomed addition to our offense next season."

Cordell is the son of Robert Paul and Malia Napva Simmons.
