HILLSBORO, Kan. - Tabor College freshman tennis player David Simmet (Mainz, Germany) has been named First Team All-Conference by the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference as he helped lead the Bluejays to a second place finish in the KCAC regular season standings.
As a freshman Simmet played both number one singles, and number one doubles along side fellow freshman Cory Sims (Wichita, Kan.) all season long for the Bluejays.
"David brought a big serve and a good mixture of power and strategy needed for the number one singles spot in our conference," said Head Men's Tennis Coach Michael Hagen.
During the Individual KCAC Tournament, Simmet finished in fifth place with a record of 2-1, as his only lose was to Friends number one player who also received All-KCAC honors.
"For a freshman, I feel like he has already stepped forward as the leader of our team and will be for years to come," Hagen added. "Being named First Team All-KCAC is a big honor this year, as the conference was full of some very good young players. I am very excited about his future here at Tabor College, and look forward to seeing how he will improve with a year under his belt."
