HILLSBORO, Kan. - Tabor College will host to the 2010 KCAC Softball Tournament Thursday and Friday, April 29-30, with games beginning at 10 a.m. at the Hillsboro Sports Complex in Hillsboro, Kan.

Tabor (7-9 KCAC, 16-23 Overall), which finished in a tie for fifth place in the regular season standings, will play fourth-seeded Southwestern College at 12 p.m. on Field 1 in the double-elimination tournament.

In the final regular season series of the season on Saturday, Tabor dropped both games of a double-header to visiting Bethany College.

In game one, Tabor took a 2-1 lead into the fifth inning before Bethany scored to retake the lead and earn the 5-4 victory.

The Swedes used a three-run fifth inning and tacked on another run in the sixth inning to open up a 5-2 lead. The Bluejays added two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning but that's as close as they would get.

Tabor was led offensively by junior Margaret (Roeland Park, Kan.) as she went 3-4 from the plate with an RBI and a run scored, while freshman Roxanne Rodriguez (McAllen, Texas) chipped in with a hit a two RBI's.

Rodriguez also got the start for Tabor and pitched seven innings allowing two earned runs on six hits while striking out four.

In game two, Tabor's early lead would be short lived, as Bethany exploded for 13 runs on 17 hits to take the 13-4 victory and complete the two-game sweep.

After taking an early, 3-0, lead after the first inning of play, Tabor would saw its lead quickly evaporate as the Swedes scored nine runs in the second inning to open-up a 9-3 lead. Bethany would add four more runs over the next five innings to earn the victory.

Freshman Taylor Funk (Wichita, Kan.) notched her third home run of the season as she went a perfect 3-3 from the plate with three RBI's and a run scored, while freshman Jessika Guderyon (Houston, Texas) went 2-2 from the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Senior Ashley Cohlmia (Wichita, Kan.) chipped in offensively as she went 2-4 from the plate with a run scored.

Two Tabor pitchers combined to pitch seven innings allowing six earned runs on 17 hits while striking out two.
