HILLSBORO, Kan. -
Clay Center Community High School senior Brielle Lund (Green, Kan.) has signed
a letter of intent to compete in track and cross country next season for Tabor
College.
In cross country, Lund was a four year
letter-winner and all-league selection, and a three year state qualifier and
all-state selection. She won the North Central Kansas League individual
title and placed sixth at the Kansas State Cross Country Meet in 2009.
During her career at Clay Center High School, she helped
lead the Tigers to four straight team appearances in the Kansas state cross
country meet, finishing as high as fourth place in 2007.
"Brielle is a fantastic addition to our women's program and
will help us build our program to a place of prominence in the conference,"
said Head Cross Country Coach Dan Swaney. "I am really excited to have her
here next year."
As she completes her senior season in track and field,
Lund is a three-time state qualifier in the 3200 and the 4x800 meter
relay, placing as high as seventh in the 3200, and fourth in the 4x800
relay. She has also competed in the 800 meters and the 1600 meters during her
career.
Lund has also excelled in the classroom as a two time
Academic All-State performer, a three time North Central Kansas League
All-Academic performer, and a three time Clay Center Community High School
Academic Award recipient.
Head Track and Field Coach Dave Kroeker said, "I'm really
excited about Brielle and her future contribution to our women's track team in
the distance races. She will be able to help us from the 4x800 all
the way up to the 10,000 and we will be working with her to see where she
can be the most competitive. She is also a top student academically
and will be an exceptional addition to our campus in that role."
Brielle is the daughter of Mark and Jayne Lund, and the
granddaughter of Neil and Gayle Kalivado of Agenda, Kan.
