HILLSBORO, Kan. - The Tabor College Softball team suffered two heart-breaking losses to Friends University Saturday, dropping both games in the last inning by a run apiece.

Tabor (5-7 KCAC, 14-21 Overall) will host Kansas Wesleyan University in a double-header Wednesday April 21. Game 1 is set for 5 p.m.

In game one on Saturday, Tabor let a four-run lead slip away in the top of the seventh inning before Friends scored the game winning run in the eighth inning defeating the Bluejays, 6-5.

Trailing 1-0, heading into the bottom of the fourth inning Tabor had exploded for four runs as freshman Jessika Guderyon (Houston, Texas) knocked in two runs while senior Aubrey Whitehorn (Duncanville, Texas) and freshman Taylor Funk (Wichita, Kan.) added an RBI apiece.

Tabor added another run in the fifth inning on senior Ashley Cohlmia's (Wichita, Kan.) RBI single to push the score to 5-1.

But an error by the Bluejays in the bottom of the seventh allowed Friends' offense, which had been held dormant for most of the game, to catch fire. The Falcons scored four runs in the inning to tie the score at five apiece and send the game into extra innings.

In extra innings, Friends scored a run in the top of the eighth inning to reclaim the lead and hold on for the victory.

Tabor racked-up 11 hits in the game led by Cohlmia, Funk, and junior Margaret Cornish (Roeland Park, Kan.) with two hits apiece.

Freshman Roxanne Rodriguez (McAllen, Texas) got the start for the Bluejays as she pitched eight innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out 10.

In game two, both teams managed just one run apiece through the first six innings before Friends scored the game-winning run in the top of the seventh to defeat the Bluejays, 2-1.

Cornish led the Bluejays offensive attack as she went 2-4 from the plate with an RBI, while Whitehorn went 1-3 from the plate with a run scored.

Rodriguez got the start again for the Bluejays and pitched seven innings allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out one.
