Hillsboro, Kan. - The Tabor College Women's Track and Field Team won its first meet of the 2010 season Saturday at the ACCK Meet held on the campus of Sterling College, in Sterling, Kan.


Tabor finished first out of five teams in a field that was made up of schools affiliated with the Associated Colleges of Central Kansas.


Tabor was led by senior Kelli Kopper (Cimarron, Kan.) who won the 400 meter dash with a time 59.42, anchored the first place 4 x 800 meter relay team, and the first place 4 x 400 meter relay team, while running the 2nd leg on the winning 4 x 100m relay team.


Members of the winning 4 x 800 meter relay team which finished with a time of 10:07.22 included senior Christina Addison (Valley Center, Kan.) junior Tessa Siebert (Henderson, Neb.) and freshman Jordan Zielke (Wichita, Kan.).


Members of the winning 4 x 400 meter relay team which finished with a time of 4:13.82 included Siebert, along with senior Andrea Batista (Hagerman, N.M) and freshman DeAndrea Pierce (Arp, Texas).


Members of the winning 4 x 100 meter relay team which finished with a time of 49.82 included seniors Tasia Johnson (Dallas, Texas) and Jessica Burden (Little Elm, Texas) and sophomore Kayla Gershon (Littleton, Colo.).


Other event winners include Johnson in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.46, Siebert in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:28.54, and freshman Erin Flaming (Denver, Colo.) in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 13:06.89.


In field events, winners included freshman Emily Post (Wray, Colo.) in the high jump and the triple jump, reaching a height of 4-10 and a distance of 10.83 meters, respectively. Johnson also won the long jump with a jump of 5.75 meters, while senior Chelsea Malone (Ellinwood, Kan.) won the javelin with a throw of 38. 41.


The Tabor College Women's Track and Field team will return home to compete at the Tabor College Invitational Wednesday, April 14th, at Joel H. Wiens Stadium on the campus of Tabor College.
