HILLSBORO, Kan. -
Tabor College freshman Ryan Chippeaux (Wichita, Kan.) won the high jump
this past weekend at the Enduro Classic on the Campus of Friends University in
Wichita, Kan. and in the process qualified for the NAIA National Track and
Field Championships.
Chippeaux qualified for nationals as he placed first in
the high jump, reaching a height of 2.01 meters (6'7 1/4").
Other top performances were turned in by the Bluejays' 4 x
400 meter relay team which placed 3rd with a time of 3:30.89
seconds. Members of the team included senior Brent Nelsen (Peyton, Colo.),
junior Justin Ball (Welda, Kan.), sophomore Matt Spurgeon (Wichita, Kan.), and
freshman Trent Reif (Great Bend, Kan.).
Freshman Michael Klaassen (Hillsboro, Kan.) placed 4th
in the shot put with a throw of 13.35 meters, while fellow freshman Dave Loewen
(Hillsbor, Kan.) also placed 4th in the javelin with a throw of
49.26 meters. Freshman Jacob Heil (Wichita, Kan.) placed 3rd in the
3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:36. 43.
The Tabor College Men's Track and Field team will travel to
Sterling, Kan. to compete at the ACCK Meet Saturday, April 10, at Sterling
College.
