HILLSBORO, Kan. -
The Tabor College Softball Team dropped both games of a KCAC double-header Saturday
at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan.
In game one, Tabor got on the board first but that's all the
Bluejays offense could muster as they fell to Southwestern, 4-1. The Bluejays
registered just three hits for the game. Southwestern scored two
runs in both the second and third innings to take the lead and hold on for
the victory.
Senior Ashley Cohlmia (Wichita, Kan.), sophomore Janelle
Medrano (Edcouch-elsa, Texas), and freshman Taylor Funk (Wichita, Kan.), each
registered a hit in the game to pace the Bluejays' attack.
Freshman Roxanne Rodriguez (McAllen, Texas) pitched six
innings, allowing four earned runs on eight hits while striking out seven.
In game two, Tabor fell behind early and could not recover
as the Bluejays fell, 6-2.
Tabor got on the board first with a run in the top of third
only to see the Moundbuilders score four in the bottom half of the inning to
take a 4-1 lead. Southwestern would score twice more to secure the victory and
the two-game sweep despite being out-hit 8-4 for the game.
Tabor was led offensively by junior Margaret Cornish
(Roeland, Park, Kan.). She went 2-3 from the plate with an RBI, while junior
Adria Whitehorn (Duncanville, Texas) went 1-3 from the plate with an RBI.
The Bluejays got a strong start from Rodriguez,
who pitched six innings allowing just two earned runs on four hits while
striking out three.
Tabor (0-4, KCAC, and 6-14 Overall) will return home
to host Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College Monday April 5, in a double-header.
Game one is set for 3 p.m.
