HILLSBORO, Kan. - The Tabor College
Women's Softball Team fell to Texas Wesleyan University Friday in Fort Worth,
Texas, where the Golden Rams took both games of a double-header.
Tabor
(0-2 KCAC, 5-11 Overall) will travel to Haskell Indian Nations University
(Lawrence, Kan.) for a double-header Tuesday, March 30. Game one is set for 3
p.m.
In
game one on Friday, Tabor jumped out to an early lead but the Golden Rams
rallied back to take the game, 7-4.
Tabor
got on the board first behind a two-run second inning only to see the Golden
Rams come back with a three-run third, to make the score 3-2. Tabor tied the score
at four apiece in the top of the sixth but Texas Wesleyan scored three runs in
the bottom of the inning to retake the lead and hold on for the victory.
Tabor
was led offensively by senior Aubrey Whitehorn (Duncanville, Texas) who went
2-2 from the plate including a home run with two RBI's and two runs scored.
Junior Margaret Cornish (Roeland Park, Kan.) recorded her second home run of
the season to help aid the Bluejays offense, as she went 1-3 from the plate
with an RBI and a run scored.
Freshman
Katelin Thompson (Laredo, Texas) got the start for the Bluejays and pitched six
innings, allowing four earned runs on nine hits while striking out two.
In
game two, both teams struggled to get any offense going and Tabor fell, 3-1.
Freshman
Roxanne Rodriguez (McAllen, Texas) gave the Bluejays another strong pitching
performance. She pitched six innings, allowing just two earned runs on three
hits, striking out eight.
Freshman
Jessika Guderyon (Houston, Texas) led the Bluejays offense as she went 2-3 from
the plate with an RBI, while sophomore Janelle Medrano (Edcouch-elsa, Texas)
went 1-3 from the plate with a run scored.
