HILLSBORO, Kan. - The Tabor College Baseball Team earned a split against Clarke College in a double-header played Monday afternoon at the West Urban Sports Complex in Wichita, Kan.


In game one, Tabor left eight men on base and struggled at the plate. The Bluejays managed just three hits in the game and fell to the Crusaders, 3-2.


After falling behind, 1-0, after the first inning, Tabor would scored in the bottom of the second to tie the score at one apiece. The Crusaders, however, would respond with runs in the third and fourth innings to retake the lead at 3-1.Tabor cut the lead to 3-2, with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning but that's as close as the Bluejays would get as the Crusaders held on for the victory.


Senior Paul Bridenbaugh (Peoria, Ariz.) led the Bluejays offense, as he went 2-3 from the plate, while freshmen Nathan Rausch (Wichita, Kan.) and Taylor Douglas (Wichita, Kan.) each added an RBI in the game.


Junior Wes Stancher (Shawnee Mission, Kan.) got the start for the Bluejays and pitched three and innings, allowing just one earned run on four hits, while striking out three. Tabor also got a strong pitching performance from reliever Tyler Fenton (Holcomb, Kan.) who pitched three and a third scoreless innings while striking out one.


Tabor's bats came alive in game two,as the Bluejays notched five runs in the first three innings to earn the 5-3 victory.


After falling behind, 1-0, after the top half of the first inning, the Bluejays responded with three runs in the first, and then capped it off with a two-run third inning to build a 5-1 lead after three.


Clarke tried to mount a comeback with a two-run fifth inning to make the score 5-3, but that's as close as the Crusaders would get as the Bluejays held on for the victory.


Tabor was led offensively by sophomore CJ Henrichsen (Wichita, Kan.), who went 2-2 from the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Douglas also chipped in with two runs scored, while Jake Mays (Colorado Springs, Colo.) went 1-2 from the plate with an RBI.


Senior Andrew Cook (Rockwall, Texas) got the start and the win for the Bluejays. He pitched four innings, allowing just one unearned run and three hits while striking out two.


Tabor (3-5 Overall) will return to the West Urban Sports Complex to play Central Christian College in a double-header, beginning at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 2.
