HILLSBORO, Kan. - Valley Center High School senior Tyler Dort (Valley Center, Kan.) has signed a letter of intent to play tennis next season for Tabor College.

Dort, a 5-8 singles player, will look to compete for a spot as a true freshman and make a positive impact to the Bluejays tennis team both on and off the court.

While at Valley Center High School Dort was a Class 5A state qualifier as a sophomore. As a junior he was a state medalist, finishing in ninth place for the Hornets.

Dort has also excelled in the classroom, as three-year member of the National Honor Society, a Kansas State Scholar, and a 2009 Academic All-State selection. He also is the Valedictorian of his graduating class.

"Tyler is a great signing for our men's tennis program," said Head Tennis Coach Michael Hagen. "His tennis and academic honors speak highly of him as a student athlete, and he will fit in great in the Tabor community. Tyler will also add more depth to our men's team, and I look forward to him joining us in the fall."

Tyler is the son of Rob Dort and Allison Wilson.
