HILLSBORO,
Kan. - With the regular season winding
down and teams jockeying for playoff tournament position, the Tabor College
Men's Basketball team took a hit Thursday night, falling to the visiting Spires
of the University
of St. Mary 68-57.
A
slow start offensively put the Bluejays down by double-digits early as the Spires
knocked down seven first half three's to take a 37-23, lead into the break.
Tabor shot just 19 percent in the half while the Spires
hit on 40 percent of their shots.
Tabor's
struggles would continue in the second half as the Bluejays struggled to find
any rhythm offensively allowing the Spires to
maintain its lead. Despite a late run by the Bluejays to make things
interesting the Spires would hang on for the
11 point win.
Junior
Damon Dechant (Kit Carson, Colo.) recorded a double-double with 11 points and
11 rebounds, while sophomore Cody Arnold (Leon,
Kan.) added 13 points to pace the
Bluejays offense.
Tabor (7-10 KCAC, 10-16 Overall) will close out
regular season play Saturday February 20, at 7 p.m. as the Bluejays will travel
Wichita, Kan
to take on Friends
University. Tabor will
begin KCAC Tournament play either Monday or Thursday night next week with times
and schedules to be announced after the regular season finale.
