HILLSBORO, Kan. - Tabor College point
guard Lawson Kingsley (Sedgwick, Kan.) has been named KCAC Player of the Week for helping lead
the Bluejays to wins over third place Bethany College and fourth place
Southwestern College.
Kingsley,
a freshman, racked-up 42 points with an average of 21 points per-game over the
two-game stretch. He shot a remarkable 68 percent from the field and 61.5
percent from behind the arc, knocking down eight of 13 shots from the three
point line.
He
also tallied eight rebounds, two assists, three steals, and one block while
shooting 80 percent from the free throw line (8 of 10) to help lead the
Bluejays to their first undefeated week in conference play.
Kingsley
is the first freshman this season to earn player of the week honors by the
Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.
"Lawson
had a great week of basketball for us," said Head Men's Basketball Coach Micah
Ratzlaff. "He is really coming into his own on both ends of the floor,
especially shooting the basketball. This is something our team needs and it is
good to see him step into that role as a freshman. Good things happen to players who work hard
and Lawson is one of those players, and he is very deserving of this award."
