HILLSBORO, Kan. -The young Tabor College Men's Basketball team showed just how much it has matured this season as the host Bluejays defeated fourth place Southwestern College on Saturday, 80-67, in front of a packed house on Church Spirit Night.


The win, Tabor's second in a row after defeating third place Bethany College on Thursday, moves the Bluejays into a tie for fifth place in the KCAC standings heading into the final week of conference play.


After giving-up 91 points against Bethany, Tabor tightened its defense and opened a 17 point first half lead before heading into the break leading 34-21.


Tabor rode a 13-3 run over the first four minutes of the half to open up a 23 point lead in route to its seventh conference victory of the season.


Four Bluejays scored in double-figures, led by freshman Lawson Kingsley (Sedgwick, Kan.) who scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half including four of six shooting from behind the arc.


Junior Damon Dechant (Kit Carson, Colo.) racked-up 13 points while senior Dan Hann (Phoenix, Ariz.) and freshman Michael Janzen (Hesston, Kan.) each added 11 points apiece. Dechant and sophomore Cody Arnold (Leon, Kan.) led the Bluejays on the glass as they each grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.


Tabor (7-9 KCAC, 10-15 Overall) will host the University of St. Mary in its final home game of the regular season Thursday Feb. 18, at 8 p.m.
