HILLSBORO,
Kan. - A hot-shooting Tabor College Men's Basketball team exacted some
revenge Thursday night in Lindsborg, Kan., where the Bluejays defeated
Bethany College, 98-91.
Tabor,
which lost to Bethany in early January, snapped the Swedes'
six-game winning streak that included wins over KCAC leader Friends University
and second place McPherson College.
A
quick start got the Bluejays off to an early lead. Bethany battled back
and both teams traded blows before Tabor took a 41-39 advantage into
the break.
Tabor
showed its shooting touch from behind the arc in the second half. The
Bluejays knocked down a blistering seven of ten shots from behind the arc to
secure their fifth conference road victory of the season.
Six
Bluejays reached double figures to pace Tabor's offense, led by freshman Lawson
Kingsley (Sedgwick, Kan.) with 22 points, while junior Damon Dechant (Kit
Carson, Colo.) and sophomore Cody Arnold (Leon, Kan.) racked up 19 points apiece. Senior
Dan Hann (Phoenix, Ariz.), along with freshmen Ryan Chippeaux (Wichita,
Kan.) and Michael Janzen (Hesston, Kan.) added10 points apiece.
For
the game, the Bluejays shot a sizzling 52 percent from behind the arc as
Kingsley and Arnold each knocked down four apiece. Dechant led the way on the
glass with seven as Tabor out-rebounded the Swedes by two. Arnold and Janzen
led Tabor with four assists apiece, and the Bluejays recorded a season
high 22 assists in the contest.
Tabor
(6-9 KCAC, 9-15 Overall) will return home to host Southwestern College on
Church Spirit Night Saturday Feb. 13, at 7 p.m.
