HILLSBORO, Kan. - A turnover-prone Tabor College Men's Basketball team fell to visiting Kansas Wesleyan University Saturday night, 86-63.
The Bluejays, who had won the pervious meeting in Salina back in early January, committed 26 turnovers, leading to 35 points for the Coyotes.
Both teams came out of the gates strong and Tabor jumped out to an early 21-18 lead nine minutes into the game.
However, Kansas Wesleyan would begin to catch fire. The Coyotes turned 13 Bluejays turnovers into 17 points while knocking down six of ten shots from behind the arc on their way to 57 percent shooting for the half.
Despite the turnovers and hot shooting by the Coyotes, Tabor rallied late in the half and trailed by just three, 41-38, at the break.
In
the second half Tabor's turnover struggles continued. Kansas Wesleyan turned 13 turnovers into 18
second half points as the Bluejays offense failed to mount any momentum in the
half.
Tabor was led offensively by sophomore Cody Arnold (Leon, Kan.) with 18 points including four of six shooting from behind the arc, while junior Damon Dechant (Kit Carson, Colo.) added 10 points to go along with a team high seven rebounds.
Tabor (5-9 KCAC, 8-15 Overall) will travel to play Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan. Thursday, Feb. 11, at 8 p.m.
