HILLSBORO, Kan. - Halstead High School
senior Rachel Phillips (Halstead, Kan.) has signed a letter of intent to play
volleyball next season for the 2009 KCAC conference champion Tabor College
Bluejays.
Phillips, a 5-7 setter, will be looked at to provide
an immediate impact next season for the Bluejays as both a setter and defensive
specialist.
During
her career at Halstead High School Phillips was named a two-time Mid-Central
Activities Association All-League selection, a two-time Canton Galva
All-Tournament Team selection, and a 2009 All-Area selection.
She
has also excelled in the classroom as she served as Student Body Secretary,
Treasurer for KAYS, and a member of the honor roll.
"I
have watched Rachel develop as a player over the last couple of years and am
thrilled to see the level of play she has accomplished," said Head Volleyball
Coach Amy Ratzlaff. "She is a very strong and competitive athlete who is in the
mix of many great things that happen on the court. Her setting, serving, and defending will be a
huge asset to our team, and her fun spirit will be an asset to the whole Tabor
Community."
Phillips
is the daughter of Will and Deb Phillips and the sister of current Bluejays
volleyball player Mandi Phillips.
