HILLSBORO, Kan. -
Senior Tabor College long jumper Tasia Johnson (Dallas, Texas) improved on
her own school record and qualified for the 2010 NAIA Women's Indoor National
Track and Field Championships this past Saturday at the Scott Nisely
Classic, held at Doane College in Crete, Neb.
Johnson's winning jump of 18'10" surpassed by nearly a
foot the automatic qualifying standard of 17' 11". She also met the "B" (provisional) national
indoor qualifying standard in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.40
seconds, good for third place.
"Tasia just had a great meet for the first competition of the year," said
Head Track and Field Coach Dave Kroeker. "She is beginning the season in great
shape and the sky is the limit for how much farther she will jump and how much
faster she will run."
The Tabor College Women's Track Team will send a small contingent of
competitors to Central Missouri State University for an indoor competition
Friday Jan. 5, in Warrensburg, Mo.
