HILLSBORO,
Kan. - Tabor
College senior basketball player Kyle Kroeker (Hillsboro, Kan.) was honored
this past week by the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference as he earned the
KCAC Champions of Character Award.
The award is given out weekly by
the conference to student athletes who demonstrate excellence in athletics, in the
classroom, and in the communities in which they live.
Kroeker, a captain, All-KCAC
performer, three year starter, and four-year letter winner for the Bluejays
basketball team, was second on the team in points per-game at 14.1 while
shooting 35 percent from behind the arc before suffering a season-ending broken
wrist injury against Bethany College in early January.
Academically, Kroeker is perusing
a degree in elementary education and is currently listed on the First Team
All-Bluejay Honor Roll with a GPA between 3.74 - 4.0. He is also actively
involved in his community, serving as member of Parkview Mennonite Brethren
Church.
"I have watched Kyle grow as an
athlete and asa man of character for four years at Tabor College," said
Vice President of Athletics Rusty Allen. "He demonstrates what the scripture
calls the fruit of the spirit in all circumstances. He is extremely competitive
while showing respect and self-control.Kyle is truly a Champion of
Character and we are proud to have him represent us."
Head Men's Basketball Coach Micah
Ratzlaff added "the kid has more heart than any player I have coached. He leads by example and is a fearless
competitor. He has always been extremely
coachable and a great teammate and I believe he is very deserving of this award
and the team is proud of him."
