In a game that featured youth verses experience, experience won out
Thursday night. The visiting McPherson Bulldogs, who boast seven
seniors in their rotation, defeated a Tabor College Men's basketball
team that plays five freshmen in its rotation, winning 79-65.
The
Bluejays jumped out to an early 10-2 lead but McPherson answered
with an 11-2 run to take the lead, 13-12. The Bulldogs stayed on top
and went into the break leading, 33-28.
In
the second half Tabor pulled within four at 52-48 behind the strength
of its zone defense. But that's as close as the Bluejays would get as
McPherson held strong to earn the victory.
Tabor was led by senior Kyle Kroeker with 21 points to go along with five rebounds three assists and three rebounds.
Junior
Damon Dechant (Kit Carson, Colo.)chipped in 14 points and had three
steals and two assists.Freshman Lawson Kingsley (Sedgewick, Kan.)
scored 11 points,including three of six shooting from behind the
arc.Freshman Ryan Chippeaux (Wichita, Kan.) led the Bluejays in
rebounding with seven.
Tabor (1-2 KCAC, 3-7 Overall) will travel to take on Ottawa University Saturday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in Ottawa, Kan.
