Damon Dechant scored 32 points in the 2 games for the Bluejays

Hillsboro, Kan. - The Tabor College Men's Basketball dropped both games this past weekend at the Sterling Classic in Sterling, Kan. on Friday and Saturday. The Bluejays fell to Langston University on Friday and NAIA Division I opponent Mid America Christian University on Saturday.


Against Langston,Tabor trailed by double-digits for the majority of the first half before cutting the lead to eight at halftime when they trailed,43-35. In the second half Tabor battled back and led by one point on two occasions with under two minutes to play. But the Bluejays were unable to hold the lead and Langston held on for the 78-72 victory.


Tabor was led offensively by junior Damon Dechant (Kit Carson, Colo.) with 16 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists. Senior Dan Hann (Phoenix, Ariz.) recorded his second double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds while fellow senior Kyle Kroeker (Hillsboro, Kan.) added 14 points.


On Saturday, Tabor fell to NAIA Division I and Sooner Conference opponent Mid America Christian University, 87-61


Despite scoring 36 first half points, Tabor struggled to stop the Evangels on the defensive end and trailed 51-36 at the half.


In the second half Tabor would close the lead to 11, but that's as close as the Bluejays would get. Mid America Christian pulled away midway through the second half to earn the victory.


Dechant led the Bluejays offensively with 16 points, while Hann added 12 points including a team high eight rebounds.


Tabor (1-4) will travel to take on Baker University, Monday Nov. 23, in Baldwin City, Kan. at 7 p.m.
