
Hillsboro, Kan. - the 2009 Tabor College Men's Basketball season kicked off on the road Saturday evening in Peru, Neb. as the Bluejays fell to Peru State College by the score of 75-70.
Trailing by three heading into halftime Tabor rallied to regain the lead just minutes into the second half, until Peru State regained the lead midway through the second half behind the Bobcats 1-2-2 full court press.
The Bluejays however would not give-up and would ounce again rally and take the lead with under a minute to play as freshman Ryan Chippeaux's (Wichita, Kan.) three point play gave Tabor a one point lead.
However on the ensuing possession Peru State would regain the lead for good by two on a three pointer as Tabor failed to answer back securing the victory for the Bobcats.
The Bluejays were led offensively by sophomore Micah Hiett (Dinuba, Calif.) with 12 points to go along with four rebounds while Chippeaux added 11 points to go along with seven rebounds four steals and three blocks.
Tabor also got offensive contributions from senior Daniel Hann (Phoenix, Ariz.) with 10 points while senior Kyle Kroeker (Hillsboro, Kan.) and junior Damon Dechant (Kit Carson, Colo.) added nine points apiece. Dechant also led the Bluejays in rebounding with eight.
Tabor (0-1) will return home for its home opener against Doane College Wednesday Nov. 11, at 7 p.m.
