Hillsboro, Kan. - With a guaranteed share of the KCAC title already in hand heading into Thursdays regular season finally at home, the Tabor College Volleyball team used a dominating performance to defeat the University of St. Mary in three games (25-13, 25-21, 25-18) wrapping-up sole possession of the KCAC regular season title.


Tabor (16-2 KCAC, 19-20 Overall) will be the No. 1 seed in next weeks KCAC Volleyball Tournament and have home court advantage throughout the tournament with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the 2009 NAIA National Tournament.


Tabor started fast and ended strong against St. Mary. The Bluejays took game one by 12 points and won games two and three by a combined 11 points.


Tabor was led offensively by sophomore Tina Frick (Durham, Kan.) with 12 kills, while fellow sophomore Gina Hullet (Abilene, Kan.) racked-up 10 kills.


The Bluejays also got offensive contributions from sophomore Mandi Phillips (Halstead, Kan.) with 32 assists, while senior Ashley Cohlmia (Wichita, Kan.) and sophomore Cortney Janzen (Henderson, Neb.) combined for 10 kills in the match.


Cohlmia also had a big night defensively, as she led the Bluejays with 14 digs, while Phillips and freshman Paige Tabor (Mansfield, Texas) combined for 14.Tabor registered 44 digs and five blocks in the match.
