Hillsboro, Kan. -
The 2009 Tabor College Women's Soccer team's season came to an end Saturday
evening in Hillsboro, Kan.
as the Lady Jays fell to Bethel College by the score of 2-1.
"The women suffered another tough loss on an unlucky break,"
said Head Coach Grant Brubacher. "I'm so proud of their effort this season and
the way they continued to fight through a lot of adversity. Our seniors will be
greatly missed"
Both teams had opportunities in the first half to score but
at then end of the half they were right back where they started tied 0-0.
The scoreless drought would end just five minutes into the
second half as Bethel
scored first to give the Threshers the 1-0 lead.
The lead however would not last long as Lady Jays would
bounce back and answer with a game tying goal from sophomore Leigh Costello
(The Colony, Texas)
less than a minute later to even the score at one apiece.
Bethel
would regain the led at 2-1 off an own goal by Tabor, a goal that would prove
to be the difference in the match as the Threshers held on for the victory.
The Lady Jays finished the 2009 regular season with a 1-6-2
record in KCAC play and a 3-11-3 record overall.
