Hillsboro, Kan. - The Tabor College Men's Soccer team closed out regular season play in impressive fashion Saturday night in Hillsboro, Kan. as the Bluejays shutout rival Bethel College by the score of 2-0.
After a scoreless first half, Tabor got on the board at the 64th minute mark as senior Dallas Pruitt (McPherson, Kan.) found the back of the net on a rebound from a shot by junior Nicholas Ouzounis (Aurora, Colo.) to give the Bluejays the 1-0 lead.
Fourteen minutes later sophomore Liam Mclean (Newcastle, England) scored his first goal of the season on a free kick to make the score 2-0, and secure the victory for the Bluejays.
Senior Aaron Schmucker (Inman, Kan.)
got the start in goal and recorded six saves in route to his third shutout of
the season.
The Bluejays finished the season with a 5-4 conference
record and will travel to either Friends or Ottawa Saturday for the conference
tournament quarterfinals.
"Saturday was a great way to end the regular season," said Head Coach Grant Brubacher. "We put in a solid performance and got a good win on senior night. We've put ourselves in a good position to make a run in the conference tournament."
