Hillsboro, Kan. -
The Tabor College Volleyball team dropped both games this past Saturday in
Lindsborg, Kan. at the Bethany College triangular as the Bluejays fell to
Bethany College and Oklahoma Baptist University.
In its first match of the day Tabor looked to wrap up
the KCAC regular season title but the celebration was put on hold as the
Bluejays fell to Bethany College in four games (23-25, 13-25, 25-22,
20-25).
Tabor fell behind early as Bethany took games one and two by
a combined 14 points, before the Bluejays rallied to take game three by three
to cut the match to 2-1. That's as close as the Bluejays would get as Bethany
rebounded to take game four by five points and earn the victory.
Sophomore Tina Frick (Durham, Kan.) and senior Ashley
Cohlmia (Wichita, Kan.) led the Bluejays offensive attack as they racked up 14
and 13 kills respectively.
Tabor also got offensive contributions from senior
Carly Kroeker (Henderson, Neb.) with eight kills while sophomore setter Mandi
Phillips (Halstead, Kan.) dished out 42 assists.
Defensively Tabor was led by senior Andrea Batista
(Hagerman, N.M.) with 10 digs, while Phillips and senior Erin Dick (Corn,
Okla.) chipped in with eight and seven digs each.
In game two of the day Tabor fell to Sooner Conference
power Oklahoma Baptist (Shawnee, Okla.) in three games (21-25, 21-25, 18-25).
Tabor was once again led offensively by Frick and
Cohlmia who combined for 19 kills in the match, while Phillips dished out 26
assists.
Phillips and Batista also led the Bluejays defensively with
eight digs apiece, while senior Audra Schenk (Hillsboro, Kan.) and sophomore
Jessica Dixon (Hutchinson, Kan.) chipped in with six digs apiece.
Tabor (14-2 KCAC, 17-10 Overall) needs to win one of
its last two games to wrap-up the KCAC regular season title as the Bluejays
return home to face Ottawa University Tuesday Nov. 3, at 7 p.m.
