Hillsboro, Kan. - The Tabor College Volleyball team continued its dominate play Wednesday evening, as the Bluejays defeated visiting Bethel College in four games (26-24, 25-16, 18-25, 25-18) to remain on top of the KCAC standings heading down the home stretch.


After battling through a tough first game in which Tabor won, 26-24, the Bluejays opened-up a 2-0 lead, winning game twoby nine points.


Bethel would not go quietly. The Threshers took game three by seven points to prevent the three-game sweep.


The Bluejays, as they have done all season long, would regroup and refocus, taking game four by seven points, to secure their 14th conference victory in 15 tries.


Sophomore Tina Frick (Durham, Kan.) continued her dominating play by leading the Bluejays offense with 18 kills, while sophomore Cortney Janzen (Henderson, Neb.) racked up 10 kills.


The Bluejays offense also got contributions from seniors Ashley Cohlmia (Wichita, Kan.) and Carly Kroeker (Henderson, Neb.), with eight and seven kills, respectively, while sophomore Mandi Phillips (Halstead, Kan.) dished out 47 assists.


Tabor used a great effort defensively up front as they combined for 20 total blocks, while three Bluejays recorded double-digit digs in the match, led by Cohlmia with 14, senior Audra Schenk (Hillsboro, Kan.) with 12, and sophomore Gina Hullet (Abilene, Kan.) with 11.


With the KCAC conference title in its sights, Tabor (14-1 KCAC, 17-8 Overall) will travel to Lindsorg, Kan. to compete in the Bethany College Triangular Saturday Oct. 31. The Bluejays will conference opponent Bethany College at 11 a.m. followed by Oklahoma Baptist at 1p.m.
