Hillsboro, Kan. - The Tabor College Volleyball Team
continued its dominating play Tuesday night, as the Bluejays returned home,
sweeping McPherson College in three games (25-17, 25-14 25-22) to remain on-top
the KCAC standings heading into the final three weeks of conference.
The
Bluejays got off to a fast start winning games one and two by a total of 19
points. The Bulldogs would scratch and claw to avoid the sweep in game three,
but the Bluejays were just too much to handle as Tabor took game three by three
to complete the sweep and earn their 11th conference win of the season.
"I was
pleased at our level of play in games one and two," said Head Coach Amy
Ratzlaff. "The team did a great job implementing some things defensively that
we have been working on, as good defense allows for our offense to shine. Game three was not as sharp, but we were also
working on some different things."
Sophomore
Tina Frick (Durham, Kan.) and senior Ashley Cohlmia (Wichita, Kan.) led the
Bluejays offensively as Frick racked-up a team high 14 kills, while Cohlmia
added 10.
Tabor also
got offensive contributions from sophomore Gina Hullet (Abilene, Kan.) who
added eight kills while sophomore setter Mandi Phillips (Halstead, Kan.) dished
out 37 assists.
Defensively
seven Bluejays combined to tally 11 blocks up front, while Phillips and Cohlmia
each had a team high nine digs apiece.
Tabor (11-1
KCAC, 14-7 Overall) will travel to Salina, Kan. Saturday Oct. 24, to compete in
Kansas Wesleyan University triangular. The Bluejays will take on Kansas
Wesleyan at 2 p.m. and Mid-America Nazarene University at 4 p.m.
