Hillsboro,
Kan. -
Coming off two straight home victories, the first place Tabor College
Volleyball Team took their winning show on the road Friday night in
Sterling, Kan., defeating Sterling College in four games (25-13, 25-19, 24-26,
25-19).
Tabor
got off to a great start winning games one and two in dominating fashion by a
combined 18 points. Sterling, however, would answer back with a gutsy
performance in the third game, as the Warriors took game three in a tiebreak to
avoid the three-game sweep.
The
Bluejays flexed their muscles in game four, winning the game by six points,
securing their 13th victory of the season.
Tabor
used a well-balanced offensive attack as three Bluejays recorded double digit
kills in the match, led by senior Ashley Cohlmia (Wichita, Kan.) with 15,
sophomore Tina Frick (Durham, Kan.) with 13, and sophomore Gina Hullet
(Abilene, Kan.) with 11.
Senior
Carly Koreker (Henderson, Neb.) chipped-in offensively with eight kills, while
sophomore setter Mandi Phillips (Halstead, Kan.) racked-up 46 assists to help
bolster the Bluejays offense.
Defensively,
the Bluejays tallied 61 digs in the match, led by Cohlmia with 15, while Hullet
and Phillips each added eight apiece.
Tabor (10-1 KCAC, 13-7 Overall) will return home to host
McPherson College Tuesday Oct. 20th. The junior varsity match will
begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by the varsity match at 7 p.m.
