Hillsboro,
Kan. -
Constant improvement is what every coach looks for throughout the year and if
Friday was any indication the Tabor College Volleyball Team is doing just that as
the Bluejays defeated visiting Southern Nazarene (Bethany, Okla.) (25-22,
22-25, 25-23, 25-21) in four games.
The
win for Tabor avenged an early season loss at Southern Nazarene, a match
in which the Bluejays were swept in three games by the Crimson Storm.
Tabor
wasted no time getting going on Friday, as the Bluejays took game one by three
points. Southern Nazarene would flip the tables on Tabor in game two, as the
Storm won by three points to even the match at one apiece. The Bluejays would
fail to fall to the pressure as Tabor won games three and four by a total of
six points to earn its 11th victory of the season.
Senior
Ashley Cohlmia (Wichita, Kan.) and sophomore Tina Frick (Durham, Kan.) produced
huge nights offensively for the Bluejays as Cohlmia racked up a season high 22
kills while Frick added an equally impressive 19 kills in the match.
Tabor
also got help offensively from senior Carly Kroeker (Henderson, Neb.) who added
eight kills while sophomore Mandi Phillips (Halstead continued her impressive
play dishing out 54 assists in the match.
Defensively
Tabor had four players register double-digit digs in the match led by Cohlmia
and senior Audra Schenk (Hillsboro, Kan.) with 15 apiece while Phillips and
sophomore Gina Hullet (Abilene, Kan.) racked up 11 each.
Tabor
(8-1 KCAC, 11-7 Overall) will resume conference play Wednesday Oct. 14, as the
