Hillboro, Kan. - The Tabor College football team fell
to the undefeated and nationally ranked Ottawa University Braves, 79-6, at home
on Saturday.
The Bluejays fell
behind, 16-0, at the end of the first quarter and struggled to produce on
offense once the Braves took the lead.
The passing game
never managed to gain a foothold in the game, completing 8 of 23 passes for 76
yards and two interceptions.Standout freshman wide receiver Daniel Jost
(HIllsboro, Kan.) was held to three receptions for 29 yards. The
running game did manage to turn in a good performance, however, with junior
running back Marquise Lawrence (Palmdale, Calif.) gaining 87 yards and scoring
the team's lone touchdown.
Defensively,
senior safety Mario Nava (Peabody, Kan.) forced a fumble in third quarter and
the team recorded four tackles for a loss, bringing the season total to 24.
Sophomore David Quarker (Atmore, Ala.) and Junior Josh Newell (Los Angeles,
Cal.) also shared a quarterback sack early in the fourth quarter.
Ottawa University
has dominated the KCAC so far, defeating Bethel, Sterling, Southwestern and
McPherson.
The Bluejays (0-4
KCAC, 0-5 Overall) go on the road to face Sterling College (1-3) in Sterling,
Kan. next Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
