Hillsboro, Kan. - Tabor College senior football player Nick Brown (Hillsboro, Kan.) was honored this past week by the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference as he earned the KCAC Champions of Character Award.


The award is given out weekly by the conference tostudent athletes who demonstrate excellence in athletics, in the classroom, and in the communities in which they live.


Brown, an honorary captain and three-year letter-winner for the Bluejays football team, recorded his second interception in as many games to go along with two tacklesagainst Bethany College this past weekend.


Academically, Brown is perusing a degree in secondary education and math, and is currently listed on the Second Team All-Bluejay Honor Roll with a GPA between 3.5-3.74. He is also actively involved in his community, serving as member of Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.


"Nick has been a solid Christian leader not only on the football team but on our entire campus from the day he arrived at Tabor College," said Vice President of Athletics Rusty Allen."We are blessed to have him be a part of our community. I can't think of someone more deserving of this recognition."


Head Football Coach Mike Gottsch agreed.


"I have known Nick for two years now, and he is as steady and as authentic as they come," Gottsch said."He has demonstrated a commitment to excellence in following and serving Christ, which translates into an upstanding young man.I am privileged to have him be part of our program.Our team is better because of the character he demonstrates on a daily basis, and he is very deserving of this award."
