Hillsboro, Kan. - University of California Riverside transfer David Fuentes (Corona, Calif.) has signed a letter of intent to play baseball next season for the Bluejays.

Fuentes, a 5-9, 217-pound first baseman, was named his team's most valuable player during both the 2005 and 2007 seasons.

He will be counted on to provide depth both in the infield and the outfield next season for the Bluejays.

"David's love of the game is only matched by his hard work in the weight room and on the field," said Head Baseball Coach Mark Standiford. "He will do whatever it takes to improve his skills both offensively and defensively, and will fight for time in the infield and outfield spots. I look forward to having him here in the fall."

David is the son of Luis and Marjorie Fuentes.
