
Hillsboro, Kan. - Palomar College transfer Joseph Erickson (San Marcos, Calif.) has signed a letter of intent to play football next season for Tabor College.
Erickson, a 6-3, 205-pound quarterback, will bring good size and experience to the Bluejays signal caller position next season.
During his time at Palomar College Erickson was given the coaches award as he helped lead the Comets to a 7-3 record in 2007 and an 8-3 record in 2008. He threw a career high four touchdown passes against Golden West College, and completed 20 of 30 passes for 244 yards and a touchdown against Ventura in the Southern California Bowl.
While at Mission Hills High School Erickson was named the Grizzles offensive player of the year as he passed for 1,250 and 13 touchdowns leading his team to an 8-2, record during his senior season.
He has also excelled in the classroom as an Honor Graduate at Mission Hills High School and a three time Dean's List recipient.
"Joey is an outstanding young man who will press for the Tabor College quarterback spot next season," said Head Football Coach Mike Gottsch. "He possesses fine leadership skills and will be a positive influence on our campus this fall."
Joseph is the son of Shelly and David Erickson.
