Hillsboro, Kan. -
Russell High
School graduate Taylor Plante (Russell,
Kan.) has signed a letter of intent to play
baseball next season for Tabor
College.
Plante, a 5-9, 165-pound outfielder and pitcher, will be
looked at to provide immediate help and depth to both the Bluejays pitching
staff and outfield.
While at Russell
High School, Plante
helped lead the Broncos to the Class 4A State Baseball Tournament during both
his sophomore and junior seasons. He was named a two-time All-League outfielder
and recorded a 5-2 record as a pitcher during his senior season.
Plante has also excelled in the classroom as a member of the
National Honor Society, and was the recipient John Philip Sousa Band Award.
"Taylor
is an outstanding athlete and student," said Head Baseball Coach Mark
Standiford. "He will come in as a potential starting pitcher, but can also play
a very good outfield. His ability to play multiple positions will be a huge
asset to our team, and I look forward to his arrival on campus this fall."
Taylor
is the son of Larry and Lisa Plante.
