Hillsboro, Kan. - Tabor College freshman tennis player Amanda Faber (Hillsboro, Kan.) was honored by the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference as she was named Second Team All-Conference in her first season of competition with the Lady Jays.
"Amanda's freshman year went better than expected," said Head Women's Tennis Coach Michael Hagen. "Being named Second Team All-KCAC is an outstanding honor for a freshman athlete. I know she was an outstanding player, but I didn't think she would improve as much as she did."
Faber only lost to two players in the conference, both of whom were First Team All-KCAC players, and one of them was an NAIA All-American. She played number one singles all season, as well as number one doubles with senior Stacie Herman (Derby, Kan.).
"Not only did Amanda beat many of the number one girls in the conference, she definitely was not intimidated by any of them," added Hagen. "She fought hard every match and truly hates losing.
"She was also second in the voting for KCAC Freshman of the Year, and definitely has three more good years to look forward to."
