Men's Outdoor Track & Field - Wed, May 6, 2009

Hillsboro, Kan. - Everett Community College transfer Spencer Boyes (Puyallup, Wash.) has signed a letter of intent to run track and play football next season at Tabor College.

Boyes, a 6-2, 185-pound distance runner, will be looked upon to compete in both the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters next season for the Tabor College Men's Track Team.

While at Everett Community College, Boyes was named Team Captain of the cross country team during both the 2007, and 2008 seasons, and the track team in 2008. He helped lead the Trojans to second place finishes in the NWAACC cross country meet during the 2007 and 2008 seasons, while placing fifth in the NWAACC 10,000 meter race in 2008.

"Spencer will bring a good 10K time and a love for running to the Tabor Men's Track and Field Team," said Head Track Coach Dave Kroeker. "We will have two strong 10K runners to train everyday together next year (Zach Gould) and that will do nothing but help both of them achieve even better times in 2010."

Spencer is the son of Mike and Bobbie Boyes.
