 Hutchinson, Kan. – Roger State Hillcats and Oklahoma Baptist Bison battled in the 2012 NAIA National Opening Round bracket play. The double elimination tournament played in Hutchinson at Hobart Detter Field saw its first rain delay and extra inning game. Roger state prevailed scoring in the 11th inning to defeat Oklahoma Baptist.

The Bison jumped out to a three run lead after two and half innings. The Hillcats answered in the bottom of the third with two runs making the score 3-2 in favor of the Bison. The next three innings went scoreless, until the top of the seventh were Oklahoma Baptist added one run to take a 4-2 led. Roger State scored the next three runs, one in the seventh, one in the ninth and one in the eleventh to win the game 5-4.

Cody Campbell led the Hillcats going 4-for-6 with five RBI's. The Bison were led by Jorden Newton who went 3-for-4 with one RBI and two doubles.

Eric Faust for Roger State records the win with Jesus Carlos getting the loss.

Roger State advances to the championship game on Saturday, May 12th at Hobart Detter Field in Hutchinson. Game time is set for 6:30 PM.
