Hillsboro, Kan. – The Tabor College women's basketball team fell to current KCAC leader and nationally ranked Southwestern College by the score of 73-35 Saturday night in Hillsboro, Kan.
The Moundbuilders, who are ranked No. 23 in the NAIA top 25 polls trailed just once on the night as they took advantage of a Tabor offense that shot 27 percent from the field and committed 31 turnovers on the night.
Junior Katlyn Mary led Tabor offensively with eight points, while fellow junior Tynan Honn and freshman Kendra Flaming chipped in with six points apiece. Honn also led the Lady Jays on the glass with six rebounds as the Moundbuilders outrebounded Tabor by 19 at 48-29.
Leading by three at 13-10 midway through the first half, the Moundbuilders used a 15-0 run over the next five and a half minutes to pull away from Tabor and open up an 18-point advantage. The lead would continue to grow to as many as 20 in the half as Tabor went into the break trailing 37-17.
The second half would almost be a replay of the first half as Southwestern outscored Tabor 36-18 in the half to earn the victory.
Tabor (1-8 KCAC, 3-17 Overall) will travel to McPherson, Kan. to take on the McPherson College Bulldogs, Thursday Jan. 26. The junior varsity game is scheduled for 2 p.m. with the varsity game to follow at 6 p.m.
