MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Tabor College men's soccer team needed overtime to break through a scoreless tie Wednesday night in Manhattan, Kan. as the Bluejays, defeated Manhattan Christian College by the score of 1-0.
Remaining scoreless after 90 minutes of play the Bluejays used less than three minutes of overtime play to claim their fifth victory of the season. It would be junior David Simmet who would find the back of the net for the fourth time this season to seal the victory for Tabor. Simmet is also tied for the team lead in points this season with 11.
Sophomore Dalton Burkhard got the start in goal and recorded two saves in the match on his way to his first shutout victory of the season. Tabor, which dominated play all night long despite registering only one goal on the night outshot the Crusaders 15-7 and 5-2 with shots on goal for the match.
Tabor (5-2 Overall) will travel to take on Central Christian College Saturday Sept. 24, at 8 p.m. in McPherson, Kan.
