HILLSBORO, Kan. – The 2011 Tabor College women’s Soccer team was picked to finish in tenth place in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason coaches’ poll at the annual KCAC Sport Management Conference, held in McPherson, Kan.
“I am disappointed with our women being selected tenth in the conference,” said Head Women’s Soccer Coach Grant Brubacher. “We will have a very young team, but we have a large group of returning letter winners and a talented class coming in. I expect the women to be much more competitive this season.
“We should show significant improvement in our midfield and forward play that will add to the solid defensive team we have returning. My hope is that the women use this selection as motivation to have an excellent season.”
Tabor earned a total of 19 points to earn the tenth spot in the poll. The Bluejays return 13 players, 11 of which were freshman from last year’s team that finished with a 1-6-2 conference record including All-KCAC selections freshmen Meagan Beals, and Molly Clark.
Kansas Wesleyan University was chosen as the preseason conference favorites as they earned nine of the 10 first place votes by the conference coaches.
Tabor will open the 2011 season at home Saturday Aug. 27, as the Bluejays take on Central Methodist University at 5 p.m. from Joel H. Wiens Stadium.
